It is a great pleasure for me, on behalf of the Organizing Committee, to welcome you all to the 21st International Conference on Chemical Education (21st ICCE) to be held during August 8-13, 2010 in Taipei, Taiwan.

Looking back at the Industrial Revolution of the 19th century and the Information Technology Revolution of the 20 th century, we now have to face more challenges than ever to make the earth planet that humans

have been living for almost two hundred thousand years more sustainable for the 21st century. Therefore, the Organizing Committee has decided the theme of the conference to be Chemistry Education and Sustainability in the Global Age. This offers the opportunity to provide hard questions to be answered and possible solutions suggested for the problems we all face in the real world.

Particularly, this theme tries to attract attention from not only the researchers, educators, and science teachers, but also from the public and students in different parts of the world. The conference will provide plenary speeches, symposia, workshops, poster presentations, and related activities for participants to discuss, network, share, and stimulate creative thinking and innovative strategies for teaching the public and students.

I would like to welcome you all to this biennial conference on Chemical Education and to reassure you that the Committee will make every possible effort to meet your expectations. You will find your trip to Taipei a very valuable experience!

All of us on the Organizing Committee are looking forward to meeting you in Taipei in 2010.

Sincerely,

Mei-Hung Chiu

Chairman, Organizing Committee
